A mixed week ahead with rain and showers, turning cooler north and west, then drier into early next week

A mixed week ahead with rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Feeling cooler in the rain too. Scattered showers elsewhere. Potentially hints of some drier weather into the early stages of next week and becoming warmer again too.

Thursday 23/5/24
The area of low pressure is likely to be off eastern Scotland on Thursday. This gives rain too much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England and the north and west of Wales as well as eastern Ireland. Brighter for the rest of England, Wales and Ireland. Just an isolated showers in these areas. Ireland and the rest of England and Wales will be brighter and mostly dry, although isolated showers, can't be ruled out over western coasts and hills. A cooler day with highs at 12 to 14C in the wetter north and west, 17C in the drier south.

Fridy 24/5/24
Low pressure fades on Friday, although still a day of sunny spells and some afternoon showers in western areas. Drier in eastern and southern areas with sunshine here. Highs at 16 to 21C.



 
 
 

Saturday 25/5/24
A ridge of high pressure brings a fair day with sunny spells as mist clears. Increasing cloud in western parts of Ireland with outbreaks of rain here. Highs at 13C in western Ireland, 19 to 23C elsewhere.



 
 
 

Sunday 26/5/24
The ridge persists in the east through Sunday bringing a mostly fair day here, although sea breezes could allow some showers to develop. Cloud and rain in Ireland as the front edges east and this affects Wales and western England too. Highs at 14C in the rain, 24C in the east.


 

Monday 27/5/24
A weakening front in western areas bringing cloud and some outbreaks of rain, these affecting eastern Ireland too. Western Ireland will be drier and bright with good spells of sunshine. Mostly dry in the east of the British Isles with sunny intervals and a low shower risk later. Highs at 24C in the east, 15C in rain in the west.

Tuesday 28/5/24
Higher pressure north of Scotland on Tuesday. A northeast flow bringing broken cloud and some sunny spells. Best of the sunshine in northern and western areas. Scattered showers over hills in the west. Highs at 17 to 24C, cooler on eastern coasts.
